New EU Food Information for Consumers Regulation (No. 1169/2011)
Food Allergies – New allergen information rules have recently been passed which affects all food and drink prepared within the Setting. Early Years Settings have to comply with the EU Food Information for Consumers Regulation (No. 1169/2011). The Setting already complies with section 3.47 of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years (EYFS) which states “Before a child is admitted to a setting the provider must obtain information about any special dietary requirements, preferences and food allergies that the child has, and any special health requirements. Providers must record and act on information from parents and carers about a child’s dietary needs.” The Setting now has a legal responsibility to provide accurate allergen information to parents/carers, children and staff for every food and drink item provided that contains any of the 14 allergens as ingredients.
Parents/carers can find detailed information regarding any allergens within the food and drink the setting provides by clicking the link below. Please do not hesitate to contact a member of staff if you require any more information. All staff will be trained to comply with the EU FIC.
