What is Play?
Play is a freely chosen activity that is an important part in developing life skills. Play allows children to learn what they can do with their bodies and explore the environment around them. It is essential for physical and emotional development and helps children learn social and behavioural skills. By having a team of dedicated and qualified play workers, who know the principles and values, the play work team have created a stimulating play space with plenty of resources inside and out, The children are able to choose their activities and resources. Through play children are able to explore intellectually and physically, they can follow their current interests and experiment with new ideas. Play allows children to give free reign to their imagination, it helps children extend their communication skills, through talking and listening with their peers. The children are given the space and resources to enable them to develop their physical development, building dens and creating obstacle courses.  We also encourage Healthy eating by growing our own vegetables for snack and tea.

How we choose our activities
We plan activities each week incorporating themes, festivals of the children’s choice. Regular meetings are held with the children to enable them to choose themes, crafts and activities they would like to take part in during the following month. It is very important that the children are able to choose what they would like to do during their time with us, whether it is chilling out in the book corner, doing their homework, creating a master-piece, playing on the Wii or just being with their friends.

School Holidays
During the holidays we try to provide opportunities for the children to have trips away from the setting. We visit the beach( on the train), nearby farms including Nunny’s Farm, crazy golf at Cleethorpes,  and the cinema to name but a few. We also make the most of the lovely community by going on nature walks or by having a trip to the park.

School pick up
The children are taken to and from school by our team of walkers. The children are collected at the end of the day from their classrooms and walked back to the club. On their return to the Club they wash their hands and have a snack before taking part in activities of their choice. Tea is served at 5 o’ clock.
We ask that parents/carers provide sunhats, sun cream and a change of clothing including a rain jacket. Please label all of your child’s belongings clearly

Snacks
We provide healthy options/self service snack which encourages all children to become independent and make healthy choices. We provide fresh water at all times. Drinking water regularly helps children’s development and concentration.

Lunch
Children are asked to bring their own lunch. We encourage lunches to include healthy options and we discourage sweets and chocolate.  Please see our section on the parent/carer page for more detailed information.
Breakfast is provided for those children who attend morning sessions.

Tea
The children are offered a choice of two different meals all served with fresh fruit or vegetables. We have a rotating menu that the children have helped to develop by sampling a range of meals. We have found this a success and the children have really enjoyed trying new foods. We also incorporate the different festivals of the year into our menu. We have created a picture menu to help the children when choosing their meal.
